Hello everyone..
I have a 1995 dyna wide glide. Just recently I rebuilt the carburetor and came to realize there has been a dynojet thunderslide kit installed.. The reason I rebuilt/cleaned was because it started backfiring losing power and fouling plugs.. Now after the rebuild/cleaning it runs/idles great except when I open her up. Once I get to about half throttle she starts losing power cutting out.. Anyone know Wut would be the cause of this?
I'm also wondering if the .175 dynojetŠ main jet is to small? Maybe try a .185? I've been also thinking about swapping out the dynojetŠ kit for a CV-performance tune kit.
When you dismantled and assembled the carb, did you put everything back together properly and ensure there were no little chunks of debris in any of the portals? I always have a can of compressed air handy and give all the little portlets and passages a hit to make sure there's nothing stuck, or gunked in the small areas. All it takes is one little piece to cause problems. Also, did you re-set the air & fuel jets? It's one thing to turn them back into "standard" settings, but then you need to set the air & fuel mix by properly adjusting your jets. Seems like you're either (1) running rich, or (2) not getting enough fuel.
I did in fact use a high pressure carb cleaner to spray out every nook and crany.. Whoever put the pipes and air cleaner on put the dynojet jetting kit in so I can't just use Harley jets.. At least that's Wut the Harley dealer said.. The mixture screw was 3 full turns out so I put it back where it was.. Does the mixture screw effect half throttle?
