Thumbs up Bad tire, Good extended warranty

I started losing air in the rear tire.
Bike is a 14 Limited with 3200 miles.

I'd put 40psi in the tire and 4 days later it would be down to about 32psi and then three days later it would be flat. I couldn't see any problems (nails, tears etc) in the tire so I thought maybe a broken bead or maybe a bad valve stem.

Well that went on for a few weeks until I got fed up and took it to the dealer. Well firstly, now is not the time to take anything to the dealer as they are packed, but he told me to hang tight and he'd get it out in a couple of days.
And true to his word, two days later there was a message on my cell to come pick up my bike, it was done.

I looked at the service ticket and it said total charges $371.10 to be billed on the Harley Extended Warranty Plan. I needed to pay the $50.00 deductible. Evidently the tire did have a nail and was replaced and balanced. Also the bike was washed and dried too.

That felt pretty nice as the 5 year plan was $900.00 including wheel and tire coverage. This was the first time I've ever used it (but I'm only 6 months into the plan) so this seems like it might have been a good deal.

I've read many threads where people either like um or hate um. Me, I've been pretty neutral on the matter, until now....

Let's hope that is all you have to use the warranty for.

glad that you're happy, but a 14 with 3200 miles should still be under the factory warranty. you should have gotten a new tire and not have to pay the deductible....

Under the what is not covered section "road hazards and punctures". That's where the ESP kicks in.

from the description by the op, doesn't sound like a road hazard issue.

end result, he got a new tire and is happy.

Lets see. if nothing else happens or goes wrong with your bike in the next 4 years or so , then that new tire cost you $950. Your happy with that?.,,

Cahuna-

Ya know, I guess I am happy with that. I made a decision to purchase the EW, and I never purchase these type of plans. No going back now. Although, if you read the fine print, you can cancel your plan anytime and get a prorated refund. And I have done that once.

Also, your math is wrong...
900+50=950-371.10=578.90

it'll be ok when you have to have the the flywheels replaced, mainshaft in the transmission replaced or inner primary bearing and all the other stuff harley cheaped out on. that's when that extended warrenty really comes into play.

If you got the 5yr ext warranty and tire and wheel coverage for $900, you got one heck of a deal. They get that for 5yr tire and wheel only around here!

Lets see, you gave Harley $900 for a warranty. They gave you a new tire for an additional $50. So as far as I can see at this point in time ,you gave Harley $950 for a tire. Unless they gave you the difference of $578.90 back, from what you paid for the warranty . As I see it, the only way you can claim to have paid $371.10 for a tire is to cancel the policy now. That, or have a lot of stuff break that costs more then $578.90 to fix, before the warranty period is up. That said, I stand by my math.,,
