Grabbed a set of the Rifle lowers and they helped the back pressure/buffeting immensely. Mine are clear so they are a little better hidden.

I tried the tube thing last night, and it made no difference at all. Moving my hand around to figure out where the wind was coming from, I seemed to narrow it down to rushing up from the sides of the tank. I don't know what, if anything, can be done about that
This is my experience as well. Lowers are probably the way to go.

Good thread.

Interesting idea. I've played around with a couple windshields, and can't deal with the ridiculous amount of buffeting. Mine definitely comes up from below the windshield and over the tank. I have a longish beard that flys up and slaps me in the cheeks at anything over 30 mph. I've used both the HD quick detach touring shield and a 14" Windvest.

I don't like windshields in general, and don't use it 95% of the time, but I like having one for long rides (to Sturgis, for example) mostly for rain deflection. I'm going to try this idea, and maybe a set of lowers, before I give up entirely on a shield.

Oooops! I thought this was a post for Parrotheads!

PS I installed the fangs; new rounded style. Seemed to make it worse, but DAYUM they look good!

Clever-wonder if anyone else gets the Jimmy B. reference.

Man, thats the first I've heard that the fangs make buffeting worse. I guess all of depends on body size, torso, shield height etc.
The PVC definitely works for me. Be interested to hear if they help anyone else. My fork deflector could be contributing to the reduced buffeting as well. Riffle does sell the vent kits and they explain that it may or may not work as per the individual and the set up of the bike, WS etc.
Good luck folks, and please report results here if you try it.
