Default Maybe Next Year I will Change My Bike

Yesterday I went for a 120 kms tour with my girlfriend and other friends.
It was my first real tour with my 2007 Sportster.

When we arrived home, at the end of the day, we were tired, a bit "confused" because of the wind and our backs were not "perfect"....

My girlfriend asked me to buy a new seat because the original one is too small for mid/long trips.
I have to say I felt a bit uncomfortable too on this seat. What's more, riding at 120/130 Kms/h is very uncomfortable, you feel a strong wind pressure on your body and driving is not relaxing anymore. Think I will buy a new seat and a windshield, even if in my opinion I will modify the original design of the bike (and I don't like to modify it).

By the way, I am thinking also to wait one year and then upgrade to something "more" bike than a sportster. I like a DYNA Superglide Custom, what do you think about this bike?
All that I want is a more comfortable bike than a 883, maybe more equipped and ready for 150/200 kms.

If I buy a new seat and a windshield do you think I will have the same problems?
Do you think a Dyna Superglide Custom will be the answer to my needs or another model will?
Is the 1200 Roadster Sportster the same of an 883?

Thanks for your suggestions!

I think you're on the right track, a sporty can be trying on long rides, especially riding double. I love my SGC, however I've only been 150 miles at a time on it, but no comfort probs at all. I did get a touring seat for it when the wife comes with me, other than that I use the stock seat.

I think you'll like upgrading, good luck

The windshield and seat will help, but you can't beat a RoadKing or one of the "Baggers" for long rides especially riding two up.

Your not the first...

My .02.

Ya Buy a Sporty, take your girl and go ride out on the open road. Then you try to add things to make it comfortable, 'cause it beats the livin' hell out of you.

From there you think about trading up to a Superglide, it's got a bigger motor, it'll handletheroad better, etc. Guess what, that to will suck going 2 up out on the open road for a long time. But the price looks good and it still looks cool, etc. so you keep thinking about it.

Well then you either pull the trigger and get the Superglide and add all the stuff on and then you'll find that you'll still run out of bike before you run out of road.

If you want to put miles under you and you want to pack your girl, a Road King or even a Hertiage (if you can't bring yourself to riding an "old mans bike") will get you there more than anything in the Dyna Linup ever will.

(Yes, I had a 75 sporty, a 84 Superglide, and now a 89 electraglide, so I've been there too.)

I have to agree. I had an 01 Heritage and now have an 05 1200 C. I ride solo and the 1200 Sportster is great. However, if I still did a lot of two up riding I would definetly have the Heritage.

Don't mess around with the little bikes. You want an Electraglide

If your girlfriend rode on the back for distance with as stock 07 seat she's a trooper..that seat really isn't even designed for 2 people other than a ride around the block - the shape turns to a V in the back.I also tend to agree if you're really planning on a lot of 2 up distance riding look at something like a Road King rather than getting a second bike that is still a tradeoff.
