Humm, I said a prayer for safety and happiness for me, any passengers with me and that nothing that I needed would fall off. Also said a prayer for my Dad that he would be safe always and have many great miles. I'm pretty private about my relationship with God so I would probably not have taken these fellows up on thier offer. Its a very personal thing to me, and I know what MY beliefs are, not thiers.
I was the first bike blessed here one year andI still crashed...so i'm back to the old stand by - having a gypsy pee on my bike...
At least she said she was a gypsy....

Actually, bike blessing is not at all uncommon. Most of these guys are good folks simply trying to impart good thoughts and desires for safe passage for bikers. Some are odd though. Personally, I would not let anyone pray for or over my bike nor would I let unknown hands touch my bike and impart who knows what energy to it.
Just my thoughts.
But peeing gypsies though..........that I might be in for.
The CMA'ers were in Sturgis last year doing that at the Free Bike Wash. They'd wash the bikes and pray for the bike and the rider before they were done. I thought it was kinda nice of them to do that. Not sure I'd call them strange.
Was checking out Leesburg last weekend and when we got to our bikes there was a group of bikers near the bikes. They came up and asked if they could pray for our bikes...what the ???? I told them I didn't believe in that stuff and they went away. They were all wearing huge crosses on their backs. My guess is that they were church bikers???
it happens all the time here in the SE. Bible belt where theres a Church and a Bar on every street corner. They drink and most drive after on Friday and Saturday nights then they go across the street and repent their sins on Sunday..... LOL"
There is a "City Wide" Bike Blessing here on Saturday. It has been going on for several years and is organized by a local church. The CMA's, the Black Sheep, and others get involved and they try to have the mayor come out and issue a proclamation about May being Motorcycle Awareness Month.
It has turned into quite the dog and pony show.
Ran into a CMA on the road back from Sturgis one year, he gave me a perfectly good shop rag they ruined by printing "their message" on.
I won't let them "pray" over me or my bike, but I will help sacrifice a good lookin' 21 year old virgin. (If we ever find one...)
And if they push it, I always tell them I am a "Reformed Druid". We are allowed to pray at bushes.
I'm also one who will accept all the help I can get. If some Christian bikers want to pray over myscooter, and maybe bring it to the Big Man's attention, that's OK by me.
I guess I'm one on those "strange" bikers. I'm a CMA'er and belong to another Christian riding club, Riders of the Lamb. Attended a "bike blessing" just last Sunday morning held at one of my CMA brother's church. It was great. Even had a chapter of one of the local secular MC's attend. Rebel Ryder is right, we're just trying to show the love of Christ to others. Not trying to push anything on anyone...
And strange is right. Bikers think I'm strange cause I'm a Christian... Christian's think I'm strange cause I'm a tat'd & pierced biker... [&:] but they sure make me feel welcome in church every Sunday morning!
