If it is Christian bikers laying hands on and praying over a motorcycle, I really don't know where that is supported in scripture. Maybe one of the CMA guys can point that out here or maybe start a thread about it on the Religious forum.

just trying to share God's love. nothing strange about people w/good intentions.
So is a Muslim came up wanting to bless your bike...that wouldn't be strange? Or what about one of those cults? It's all Gods love... The strange things is that no body really knows if there is a God...maybe, mabye not...and then to have a christian, which means he believes in christ and the proof of that comes from books...that's strange to me, really strange. I agree with good intentions and the will to help others...but you don't need any religion to do that.

First, i personally appreciate the fact that they asked you. That indicated that they didn't just assume or force something on you that you didn't want. Second, I would not have minded if they asked a blessing on my bike. They were not actually blessing it, just asking for a blessing for it and me. As others have said, I need all I can get. I'd rather have them asking to say a blessing fo rit than to be sitting on it or bouncing their yard apes on it !

Just my .03 (inflation is hell)

Bubba
Hey, I'm glad they asked...if I would have caught them touching my bike...it would have been a different story.

At least they didn't walk up and try to rob you or something. My guess is that if someone wanting to pray over your bike is the worst thing that happened to you, you had a pretty good day. And, when you said no, they moved on. What's the big deal?

It is strange to me for someone to come up and try to do some ritual on my bike. That way of doing business/religion is intrusive. No soliciting! I bet, if I would have let them...next they would be trying to impose their believes.

In your original post, you stated "They came up and asked if they could pray for our bikes..." That means to me that they didn't come up and try to do some ritual on your bike, they asked if they could. And, I presume from your post, that when you said no, they left. End of story. And, no one can impose their "believes" on you. They can only explain their beliefsto you and either you accept or deny, your choice.

I was the first bike blessed here one year andI still crashed...so i'm back to the old stand by - having a gypsy pee on my bike...

At least she said she was a gypsy....
You crack me up!!

No need to offend or be offended if someone asks to pray for your bike. I'd let 'em rattle a chicken head and dance with carcus of a dead antelope, what to I care???

Perhaps it would be better for someone to pray for your bike from a distance and not mention it. I think they were trying to sell/push/indoctrinate something. Otherwise, why ask if they can pray. Private prayer is not intrusive on others.

its all relative to the perceptions of those involved. you explained yourself when you stated that you were agnostic.

And strange is right. Bikers think I'm strange cause I'm a Christian... Christian's think I'm strange cause I'm a tat'd & pierced biker... [&:] but they sure make me feel welcome in church every Sunday morning!
same here. I think its neat that we blur the lines. I never really want people to be able to totally figure me out. however, I will never hide/hold back or settle regardingmy faith.
