I just want to say I am new here and a new Harley owner - why, ironically its my very first bike.

I just want to say I DO know everything about motorcycles. I know which ones are pretty, and which ones are loud......... all the rest of it, I'll let my sweet hubby deal with.

I'll get back to you guys when I decide if I am offended or not.

Why,I think you just insulted a lot of the Harley owners here......
Please expound here. How have I insulted a lot of the Harley owners here?

You were every bit as insulting as the original post that blew your skirt up.

You made a broad assumption about a lot of the members of this site and how much they ride and by the tone of your post implied that the fact that you somehow rode 4300 miles in a month or whatever it was made you somehow more valid as a biker.

Face it...you overreacted to the first post. There was no insult...there might have been some stereotyping...there might have been some pot and kettle stuff but insult....no. Reason for admonishment? No.

A great beginners bike (sort of like the 883),
Beginners Bike Huh? I guess all riders were on Beginner Bikes not to awful many years ago, what would you BIG Bike riders have riden in the Days when a 1000 was THE Big bike?
Just more Harley ego arrogance.

I never said the 883 was exclusively a beginners bike. Would you argue that the 883 IS NOT a good beginners bike?
Yes I would argue that a Sportster of any version is a TERRIBLE beginners Bike. It has the Highest ground clearance, and the Engine sits higher in the Frame as far as balance is concerned, the High center of Gravity makes it a hard Bike for beginners to keep upright if they make the slightest unbalanced manuver. The lower price makes it attractive to first time buyers but in reality it is not a good balanced Bike for beginners.

The whole "Harley's hold their value thing" is total bullshit in real world terms. At least when you are talking about new bikes. Used ones maybe. The oriignal invoice on my bike was $25K. I just bought it from the original owner for $16K. It's an '05. That a $9K hit. The total purchase price of my '05 Suzuki? $6,500. It's still worth $4Kat a minimum. When you talk in percentages you miss half of the equation.
Dang on the HD website they show a list price of 17.5k to 17.8k
Did you load it up with extras? because if you did you will only get back pennies on the dollar for any mods.

Hammer my comment wasin direct response to this:
Judging by how chromed out and "pretty" some of these Harley "Owners" bikes are then I'd say they see the end of a polish cloth far more than they see the pavement.
Are you gonna try to tell me that that quote from you was not directed at me?

Four of the pastsix mths have been in the dead of winter and I would imagine it would be hard for most folks to do much riding at all. However with that being said:

If what I stated insulted anyone here I will apologize right now.

I stand by my words. As I stated in the post, no insult to any member of this forum was intended. I merely related my experience. I will state that I've recieved no PM's taking issue with said post.

Feel free to ban me if you wish.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

:edit: And I'm still a member in good standing at venturerider.org. Head on over and find my posts bad-mouthing Harleys if you can.

Just to follow the logic here, you said that TM's post was just as insulting as the original post; then you state that the original post wasn't insulting, therefore TM's post isn't insulting? That condradicts the whole premise [sm=confused06.gif]

Just puttin the pieces of the puzzle together here.

Thing that gets me Hammer, is you're doing exactly what you're accusing TM of doing. Hope this doesn't blow y'er skirt up.

Here's the facts, this is a Harley site...we all need to get out and ride and leave the BS behind, the rest are just opinions.
