Skideluxe,
I live here in Bount County, TN home of the dragon. I ride it often only because it is part of a big loop that I always ride. It is an excellent road to ride if you like lots, and I mean lots of curves. It is a lot of work in a short peroid of time. Additionally there are lots of metrics that go a whole lot faster than I ride. Typically I can wave them by without a problem. Some of them ride way over their heads and take your line away with out a care. My road of choice in the area is the Cherola Skyway. Much larger curves, a lot less work, more scenic, and a whole lot less traffic. If your gonna be in the area drop me an email and I will be give you any info that I can.
RT, a buddy and I rode it yesterday and your right, the riceburners owned the road. It was wonderful though. We went to the Maggy Valley ralley saturday and were not impressed at all. but the mountain ride made up for it. Would be vey interested in the Cherola Skyway ride ! If only my 05 deluxe footboards were higher! they scraped all to often.[:@]
I have rode it a couple of times in a car(corvette) it is really fun we used to live in knox county but i'm taken the bike down in about a month this will be fun considering i'm only 16.

We've ridden it this summer also. I echo the sentiment to watch the squids. They have the idea that they own the road and we (doing the speed limit) are merely an inconvenience to them, to be conquered much as gravel in a curve. One played slalom with our group of 4 bikes and we were riding about 5 bike lengths apart so they could pass more or less safely. The road itself while curvy is easily ridden IF you pay attention and don't sightsee. Don't wave at the photographer with both hands (see killboy.com) watch for cagers and 18 wheelers. I also agree that the Cherohala is a wonderful ride. Hope your ride is safe and enjoyable.
Rode it last summer. I was petrified at first but then settled into it and at the end I just had to turn around and do it again, and then again. It's true, you absolutely cannot look at the scenery, other bikes, or the guy taking photos on the shoulder. Keep your eyes on the vanishing point, maintain a reasonable speed (first time, I barely got out of 3rd), stay on your side of the double yellow, and look where you wanna go. It rocks!
