I got really lucky a few weeks ago as I luckily avoided getting hurt. Was traveling in the right lane of a four lane road. In the left lane going my same direction was a van waiting to make a left turn. I must have been blocked from traffic because a white sedan of some sort traveling the opposite direction, made a left turn without stopping without stopping. I managed to get slowed down some, but still clipped the bumper of her car. Somehow I did not go down. After I manage to get stopped, take a second to calm down a bit. I turn around to return to the intersection. The lady and the car are nowhere to be found. Fortunately the man in the van stayed to make a report to the police. He said I took off half her rear bumper.
Part 2:
I called our local Harley dealer and they want $175 to do an estimate. This seemed a bit outrageous. I take it to an independent here in town that seems to be reputable and I've had do other work. Here we are four weeks later and I've still haven't got the estimate. He's claiming Harley won't give him the price on a new frame. (Frame was torn at the neck where the engine guard attaches) How true is it that Harley doesn't give out this type of information? It's a bad time of year not to have a bike to ride
I am talking about an insurance claim. Not knowing any better, I didn't think it could be totaled since it was still able to be ridden. I assumed it was just mainly cosmetic stuff, like the engine guard and floor board. Once at the indy, upon closer inspection, he found the front fender dented, frame torn and some other front end dents. He said he'd get the estimate done, but can't get a frame price from Harley. Allstate doesn't have a motorcycle adjuster in Wichita.
