Production line Choppers!!!!! WTF ???? these are for RUB's !!!!!!!
A Custom Chopper is some ones individual thoughts and ideas on making a statement about themselves.OK go to a professional builder if you are not competent to build your own but please keep it original and unique ! If they are Factory built they would most probably be 100% conforming to EPA rules and regulations etc etc. Do you truly want blinkers on a Chop ? or ultra quite Mufflers ?
They can never replace the Wide Glide (wait, am I being partial ???)
ORIGINAL: Wally
I think it makes perfect sense. It explains the fact that the softtail standard, deuce and wideglide are gone for 08'. One bike for the same target customer.
Only thing that has me confused is the fact that the factory chopper bikes were supposed to be dropping.
Maybe this new HD chopper will turn things around for that market.
Just my $0.02: RUBs BUY "Choppers." Bikers chop their own. The very idea of a Stock Chopper is very funny. Sorry, I guess that I am just too old.
real recognizes real, those of us who like to do it ourselves will continue to make things our own in our own way and will always be distinguishable from those buy a style and those who make their own style........ same with everything in life...
If nobody but corporate knows about them the drones are going to have to tool up awfully fast!!!! Where do you some of you guys buy your drugs, they seem to work.
ok, strike "corporate" and replace with "corporate management and those strictly with a need to know basis - including assembly line workers, advertising/marketing, yada yada yada. But not dealers."
I think it will probably happen. The market is ripe for it. Why not offer a wide tire custom that will undercut Big Dog and the others at a lot less money? After a year or two, sell it fully tricked out in the CVO line. This will probably kill some of the smaller custom builders.
Keep in mind...they have to sell more bikes. The shareholders are demanding steady growth. They have to adapt to the market.
I personally don't want one but they will sell. My next bike will be something in the Touring line.

Well SOME dealers know about it... OH chit, I've already said to much!![sm=escape.gif]

Look choppers have been around for a long time and are not going away. HD has had ample time to do a chopper but have not done it. But it does seem that HD is following the market, bigger motors, wider tires, so why not do a chopper? everyone else and their dog is doing them.
It wouldn't surprise me considering that Ghost Rider and Wild Hogs were in the theaters recently, could stir some interest in this type of bike. As a sidebar, how many of you remember that the softail design did not come from Harley but an independent company? MOCO quickly bought the design, refined it slightly and we all know how well they have done with that design. I still have the issue of Easyriders that contains the original ad. I think the name of the company was American Eagle or something. I can find it on my next trip to the "archives"
