I've had 2 RoadKings and loved them. I had 1 Electra Glide classic. It was a no go. Hated that bike within a week of getting it. Due to circumstanes beyond my control at work I just traded in my 09 Road King Classic on a 13 Road Glide Custom.

Batwing or Windshiels? For me windshield. Never been a batwing fan. Kind of get sick of seeing them on everything harley and metric. Windshield are just old school cool looking especially on a Road King.

Had a Road King that I put 62k miles on and never really had a complaint with the windshield. With that said I'm now riding a Electra Glide and the Batwing fairing provides better wind protection than the windshield and I feel better after a long day of riding. I miss not being able to take off the windshield, but the Batwing is better suited for my type of riding. There's a whole lot more to the batwing in my case, radio, gauges, power point etc..

I'm finding the older I get a few creature comforts are a good thing. I have all the guages and stereo. It even has the hook up and mount for a Garmin GPS. The one thing I have found with age is that a cloud of nats use to just be an anoyance. Now they are like passing through a cloud of birdshot. Stuff hitting me in the face at Hwy speeds hurts like hell these days. So I will enjoy my fairing and every now and then sit and look at the pics of the bikes I had and remeber the good times I had on them.

Why trade? I like my Heritage and can install a batwing and a big bore kit for a fraction of the cost of a new ultra. Would also cost another small fortune to "make it mine".

Had 'em both, on the same bike. Batwing any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The only time I wish I had a batwing is when the temps are below freezing. My hands get so cold, the fingers hurt after a while at highway speeds. The batwing would deflect that wind off my hands where the windshield just doesn't do it. Other than that, I prefer the windshield.

Default Windshield vs Batwing

I'd rather have a batwing, but I'm a young ******* that loves to pull out of a clubhouse or bar and **** people off. I feel that a stereo with some death metal would help my cause.

In all honesty, I feel the bike I started out on was one of the more comfortable rides with a bat wing. If my next bike isn't another king, it will either be a Street Glide or a Road Glide. I'd like to have a fairing again. My windshield just sits in my garage collecting dust.

I have the fangs on my heritage and they do a great job but interested in the deflector also.
Thanks
I use the deflector from www.glideairdeflectorsystem.com
Don't think it will fit a softail.
