I've worn them for decades, never had any issues with them making me fall over.
I wear sneakers too and also tactical boots or whatever footwear I happen to be wearing when I decide to get on the bike.

It's not a big deal.

I have a black pair of Ropers that I had Vibram soles put on them. No slipping at all. I usually wear Ariat Terrains. Lighter and cooler. Really not a cowboy boot though.

Leather soles + oil on pavement = Bad JuJU. You're going down and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

I second the Double-H brand. Lots of choices.

Cowboy Boots, you ain't from around here are ya boy? We call them boots, round toe, square toe, ropers, rough stock, or riding heel etc.. Wear what you like. I won't say leather is slick, but I will say it doesn't grip. I wear Justin, Ariat, and Tony Lama steel toes at work, only my dress boots have leather soles.
