I know I shouldn't be towing my Street Glide, but every year I take a trip from GA to Vermont and sometimes I don't have time to ride the entire way (by not having enough time I mean splitting that ride into 2-3 days as opposed to ***** to the wall highway riding) so I trailer to a friends house in NJ and ride the rest of the way.
I'm thinking of getting rid of my Tacoma and getting back in to Jeeps (have had CJs and TJs), but I was looking last night and the max towing was 2,000lbs. Not sure how that would hold up pulling a 6x10 utility trailer with a Street Glide on it. EDIT: I should have mentioned, I'm looking at the 2-door version of the JK, and most likely a 2014-2016
Anyone here towed with a JK Wrangler (manual or auto)? Interested to hear about if anyone has done this.
Thanks,
Druski

Reason: added info
I towed my Softail from NC to Sturgis with my 2013 Rubicon 2 door JK Wrangler. It's a 6 speed and it towed my 5x8 (10' with V nose) trailer with ease. I averaged 20 mpg and usually pulled about 65-70 mph.
The 3.6L Pentastar engine is powerful and will pull the *** off of any of the previous models. The 4 door model has the same powertrain but is rated for more weight because of the longer wheel base. I have pulled my Street Glide in the same trailer with ease as well.
I never towed a bike but I've pulled a 17 foot Boston Whaler with 90 Hp. motor plenty of times. That rig and trailer would weight more than any single bike. TJ, straight six with 5 speed. Also towed with a '79 CJ-7. No problem.

As others have said..... The 3.6l will pull anything. The thing to be concerned with is the short wheelbase of the 2 door jeep may cause you some issues if you have a long trailer. The thing you have to worry most about is sway. If you have a longer trailer with a short wheelbase vehicle, the trailer will push you around.
Make sure the "combined" weight of the trailer loaded and Jeep loaded don't exceed the "combined max allowable towing weight". Once I had everything loaded up I went to the local landfill scales and got a gross weight. If your'e overloaded you would certainly have an insurance claim issue if that ever arose.
Remember, it's not how much you can TOW it's how much you can STOP!

How did you get 20 mpg while towing? Most people have trouble getting that while not towing?
Here is my set up. 6' X 13' trailer. I sometimes put my 95 Heritage in it, but is also handy for furniture etc.

I have a 4:10 rear and a 6 speed as well. I'm running the stock Rubicon tire set up too. Larger tires will knock a mile or two off I'm told. Not sure what I really got but that's what the computer told me. It was almost all highway and flat as hell once I got out of the Smoky Mountains.
