Two and a half years ago I fell off a roof...broken jaw, wired shut for 6 weeks. Just lost interest in riding I guess.
Parked the bike in the garage, started it once in that time ( about a year ago.) Had it on a battery tender. It looked like a barn find when I rolled it outside on Sunday.
It was hard to start, but after a couple three tries it fired up and idled....a little bit of deer corn came out of the exhaust.
I washed the bike twice.
I checked all the fluids, then let it idle a few minutes. I hopped on and went for a 20-30 mile ride, came home did some chores.
Later in the afternoon I took off for another 20-30 mile ride, stopped for gas. Started the bike up and it ran terrible, missing, hesitation, sputtering.
The security light cam on a few seconds after starting...later on check engine light came on, then went off.
I ran a Diag and got a couple DTC codes...TSSM, Crank position sensor,Speedometer.
At home the bike wouldn't start a couple times.
I changed CPS, the bike started but was still sputtering, missing.
I was thinking it was gas, or a clogged fuel filter, but the codes pointed to electrical so I juggled the FI wires when it was idling,no change.
After poking around many connectors and looking for a pinched wire, I tried the pig tail from the power commander to the ecm...when I unplugged the connector, a lot of water poured out.
Dried it out with air, hair dryer and wire dryer...gave it a little elec grease. Started the bike.....idled perfect, went for a short ride...ran perfect.
I did a lot of reading and searching my symptoms on HDF. Once the RK was out of warranty it has never been back to the dealers thanks to HDF.
