I have been fighting pinging for a long time now. I have a Power Vision and all the auto tunes in the world do not correct the pinging. Well, I broke down and spent $21 on a set of Screamin' Eagle spark plugs for a higher compression engine and I am happy to announce my audible pinging is gone. If you are battling pinging, I would suggest you try the SE plugs. Worked for me.
Could be coincedence? I wonder if you gapped your plugs correctly. .30 for a higher compression engine, I think stock harley plugs are gapped a fair bit higher out of the box. May be closer on SE plugs, not sure.

I am with you as NEVER had a plug make any difference. Had to be the gap. I buy the Champion version of HD and gap at about .37.
I should state that this has been on TC88 motors. Not sure what my S&S 97" will use yet.

My Bike was hesitating and pinging for a year. Kept thinking I had to buy an auto-tuner after switching out to the SE plugs and upgrading the engine a few years ago. Turns out it is the "93" gas here (Turkey Hill gas station). I added STP Octane boost and the bike runs like a top. I am thinking they are diluting the gas. Going to ride a stretch longer to Sunoco for the good stuff. Saved me the $1k+ with a $3 bottle of octane juice.
But but you lose that special thingamajig with the stock plugs. I think many idiots state on this forum that the stock plug has some special magical pulse detector that other spark plugs dont have.

Its not a fantasy. Its ion knock sensing, and the SE plugs almost certainly have that same capability
I too was suggested the se plugs for my 2013 flhtka, so I asked if it would effect the ion technology and was told it would not. So I got a pair and on the box it said the gap was 35 for my app, but I believe the manuel said 40, but I went with what the box said(35) and I too have noticed the pinging was reduced alot but not gone completely when it is really hot. I also noticed that in 6th gear at 65 mph my rpm is about 2100-2200 where before it was at least 2500. This is not the first plug change, but it is the first time gapped at 35. So is it the gap or the plug? I would love it to be the gap as ten dollars a plug is too much.
