id love to go on an iron butt ride but not sure if my sporty would be the best choice. what bike would you choose? i guess one of the touring models would naturally come to mind first but i read on powersportsnet the story of a guy who rode his street bob from oregeon to new jersey so i guess its a great iron butt rider to. look forward to testing my butt someday
Bike don't really matter as long as you pay attention to fuel requirements. If you have the peanut tank you will be stopping more frequently and will need to plan your route accordingly and manage your time effectively.
You might want to even look into biking pants that have a gel pad where it counts. A good bike store will have many styles/sizes for ladies. Just a thought. Other than that just plan on having a ball. 700 miles or so is no biggy for me but then I have a bagger with a Corbin.......
My brother rode a Ironbutt with me and he rode his Dyna which is very similar to a sporty. Best items to have: a windshield to cut down on wind fatigue, engine guard with foot pegs,(so you can change feet positionas often as you want) Have a very comfortable seat, and practice what I calllittle ironbutts, 200-300 mile rides.
