Default Gremlin Bell

I bought a 20 year old FLSTN last month and was lookin' to buy it a Gremlin Bell.
But I'm a superstitious guy. I read somewhere one must receive the bell as a gift for it to have any mo-jo.
On to the back-burner it went, had other priorities to attend to.
So I go to change the oil and I'm laying down next to the bike with my face and eyeballs at ground level, when get this- a few inches away from my nose is a tiny elfin bell hanging under the frame.
"For joy!" says I, but my happiness is short lived when I realized the little bell wasn't gifted to me.
Or was it? So I'm thinking; Should I ask the previous owner if it was a gift?
I mean, if I were to sell my Harley I'd certainly keep my good-luck bell for the next bike, wouldn't I?
Or would I leave it with the motorcycle, because that's what's done... isn't it?

Someone please help me out here!!!

I make a habit of giving a bell to someone I care about if I find out they don't have one. Everything else takes care of itself.

Gremlin Bells, how childish. Sounds like something a 3 year old would be asking about putting on their tricycle. I put one of those thumb ringing bells on one of my granddaughter's bike with training wheels.

Thanks 1004ron, I'll mention it to the missus. Can't hurt to have two bells hangin' on one's scoot, now could it?

When I had a bad crash 10 years ago I told my wife the bell didn't do it's job. She reminded me hitting my head on the pavement at 30 MPH with no helmet and not having to carry a drool cup and wear a diaper or worse didn't happen. Ok. Closer to 60 now so I won't rule out Depends at some time!

I would assume that it came as part of the sale of the bike, so actually be bought it for himself.
