If I don't have a trip planned I head into the mountains. One of my favorites is the Mount Nebo loop.
220 mile round trip. Maximum altitude of 9345 feet. Sorry for the crappy pictures. They're captures from a gopro video.
Any guesses where I'm going in the morning? The weather forecast is for 45 deg in the valley tonight. Not sure what its going to be at 9000 feet.
Anyway, in the middle of that 220 miles there's 35 miles of this...
The highest elevation here is a freeway overpass...
Same here <g>. Since retiring I've tried repeatedly to get my wife to consider moving to someplace with some actual elevation, but no luck -- she just won't leave kids/grandkids. She's OK with my roadtrips, but she just isn't willing to move.
The highest elevation here is a freeway overpass. I am jealous of the scenery you have close to you. Nice pics though
I love Texas, but this is so true. Coming from southern CA, I was shocked at how flat it was out there in TX....everywhere..
Here, I can swim in the brown disgusting ocean, and then less than two hours later be at 8000 feet, twisty road paradise to recover. I'd prefer to stay up there, but work/life won't allow that ...for now.
It has its perks out here, but also its problems.... no doubt about that.
Glad OP has a go-to ride like me. It is nice to know you can do a loop like that anytime. It is my go-to daydream, when I am not actually doing it...
