I know some of the Cossacks Demo Team, and vendors. I don't attend for the same reason I don't do Sturgis.
In the past, we used to meet at the California Tavern in Marysville and take Hwy 9 to all the small towns and stop with WSP escorting along the way. The attendance used to be around a thousand and was just enough to put up with.
Take the Mukilteo ferry and ride up Whidbey Island into the back door and see some great scenery.
It will be interesting to hear if the Mongols bump shoulders with the dominant MCs there again.
My buddy and I are coming over from the east side. I was planning to take 97 over blewett to Leavenworth then 2 over stevens to Monroe. After that I was debating which route to take, either 9 up to Mt Vernon, or head over to Mukilteo and take the Ferry over to Clinton and head up through Oak Harbor and over Deception. Probably depend on time and weather.

And your time frame-get a room at Anacortes/Oak Harbor, take the ferry up and enjoy the island and a good home base to see the run and to rest up for the ride back. http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwest...ertyCode=48092
Sorry - been there, done that....boring as hell and no oysters.
NOT what I was expecting. I expected street venders selling oysters on every corner. Instead all I witnessed was a bunch of posers milling around and no oysters.
Also, it only lasts until around noon so one should have additional plans to cover their disappointment with so-called the Oyster Run.
Maybe things are different now, who knows. I only needed one application of the Oyster Run to cure me.

When we used to do the Hwy 9 runs, the little towns we stopped in had prearranged oysters ready at the taverns there.
I understand there's oyster restaurants open early and close late on the main street. http://anacortes.org/eat/
