Honestly what can they steal 5 gallons of gas. Be in open view of everyone plus bikers don't play well with thieves even if it is not their bike.
I would be more concerned about somebody adding something to the gas (such as sugar) than somebody stealing, and even that is not highly likely in my opinion.
The ONLY time I'd consider a locking cap would be after I retire. I'll be parking my (future purchase) "geezer-glide" in front of a lot of hotels overnight as I tour the country. Not afraid of theft as much as sabotage. Never had one so far...
Not all. My Road King didn't, and my OL's Road King doesn't.
that's because roadkings aren't really 'true' touring bikes...... kidding, really, just kidding...... okay, let me rephrase that..... pre rushmore touring bikes with fairings did.
Harley bagger's fuel doors were unkeyed barrel locks so someone that forgot/lost their key wouldn't be stranded without fuel.
Anyone's barrel lock key would open it. Seen it before.
I bought a blank key from a locksmith for a couple of bucks and store it in the tour pack....... Just in case.
mine didn't but i put one on because i am that paranoid. someone put dirt in the tank of my first bike years ago, so if i can get a lock for whatever bike i have, i get one.

Just nitpicking here but: Barrel locks need a key to unlock them. They are definitely NOT un-keyed.
HD either did or still does make a push button that locks for the fuel door, but then you're right back where you started if you lock it.
Also, it really doesn't matter whether anyone else's key will work when you're riding alone. And if you forgot your keys and the bag where you keep your spare is locked you're still screwed.
I've seen it and done it.
Ya, I felt pretty stupid so I put no-locking buttons on all of my Glides.
