Default Missing Removable Luggage Rack

Let me start by saying that I cannot keep up with anything... my keys, etc. I purchased a Road Glide Specials about 1 month ago. I have the removable Tour Pak. When it is not in place, I have a removable luggage rack. My wife and I just finished a weekend ride. I washed the bike and removed the Tour Pak after our ride. That is when it hit me... before we left, I distinctly remember that I didn't remove the luggage rack before I put the Tour Pak on. I looked all over my garage... no luggage rack to be found. I remember the rack was not in place when I put on the Tour Pak. So here is my question...

Is it common for these removable luggage racks to be stolen off the bike, or have I just lost my mind (and my rack)?

The short answer is yes, depending on where you are and what somebody wants. That's why they sell locks. Harley has these, and Brukus makes some as well (I have them, and they're great).

Yes it does happen.

My tour pak and luggage rack (when either are on) can't come off without taking my seat off.
This is due to me having a wide passenger touring seat.

I have a seat strap that bolts to the frame.
So in order to take either rack off, the bastard has to take a torq screw out for the seat strap, then a thumb screw for the seat, then figure out how to unlatch the rack or tour pak.

To me I think that's too much trouble for a quick thief.

If it wasn't for the wide seat, I'd have a lock.
Even with all that trouble I've considered adding the locking latch kit but at $80 times 2, I'm not sure I need it that much.

Thieves suck. I'm sorry to hear about this, it's positively infuriating.

Pisses me off too. Thank you for the link for the lock option. I was not aware that was available. I will own 2 sets by days end.

Also, did you see the Brukus lock that I linked to?

Or cut the seat strap and remove the seat and Tour Pak.

If you buy the HD only buy one set. You only put one lock on each quick detach.
