I am just curious about what is the freedom of motorcycle riding?
I love riding, been doing it close to 50 years.Survival on the streets on bikes these days requires, paying close attention to all of your surroundings.Wearing protective gear, and obeying the traffic laws just like any other vehicle on the road.
Mistakes made in riding technique aren't anywhere as forgiving as mistakes made in driving an automobile.
I am guessing the freedom associated with motorcycle riding is just a marketing illusion that has been repeated for years.Maybe I'm just ignorant,I don't get it.
Ride Safe!

Freedom? Never considered riding as freedom. I have never said to myself while riding, 'I feel free'. But I do say to myself all the time, Man, does this feel good!
Its a feeling one gets when riding. the required concentration, even in the city with all the various other vehicles , pedestrians etc. Combined with the physical fitness required and becoming "one with the machine". Its a combination of things. I get a relaxation when riding. I sometimes ride when I'm feeling wound up or stressed, and it makes me feel better even after a short 50 mile run in the evening. I think the freedom is the relaxation and the "get away" from the daily grind. The bike give you a way to " get away", even if it is for a couple of hours.
