Got a good laugh out of that picture. That is Michael Lichter, photographer of Easyrider fame. Known him since 2002 and I have seen him do worse than that to take a picture while riding a bike on far more interesting roads. That is an old picture, though he still rides that RK to Sturgis every year.
Google him and check his website, tons of great images.
Cheryl and I attended one of his gallery nights at the Harley Museum. The stories behind the pics were as good as the pics themselves.
OP - you need to get one of these. Pics with benefits.
I tried out a $65 Olympus X-42 in a Ram mount on the handlebar. Tried it out for the first time on Lolo Pass. I stopped to check on video and it was great. Rode a bit longer and turned it off. Not 5 miles further up the road a deer broadsided me. I was so bent that I missed that video event that I've never bothered setting up again.

Never fails I've lost some good Video like that so, (my Das Cam Loops) I put a 32gb in it & carry extra cards & never turn it off. it comes on when I turn key on & goes off when I turn motor off.

I'm going to run a dash cam in my truck. I ordered the one as seen in another thread on the forum. I'll run it this winter in the truck and if it survives I may move it to the bike. That's neat that yours is on/off with the ignition.

I would but my wife might disagree with the model of camera I choose...then she will want to pick her own model on her bike! LOL.
I wouldn't mind using my phone. Just don't think it would be very easy while riding. Might have to go the Go Pro route.
Can you change or the batteries on the Go Pro or is it recharge only?
Switching out cards shouldn't be a big deal but I thought I read the battery lasts about 2 hours. That might be a bummer on a ride of course if it's not local.

Have a Go Pro and would not buy another. Main thing I don't like is that the battery only last for about 2 hours, both camera and remote. They can be wired into the bikes electrical system but not easy. Both the camera and the remote are not designed to be hard wired. Could never understand why Go Pro does not market a hard wire system for their products. Also the mount are not the best. Had the light weight plastic base brake on a ride last year.
I have the GoPro mounted on the handlebar and use the USB cable to power it. No worries on battery life for me. When I rented an EG out west I just took the cig lighter out and plugged in the USB adapter. Ran it that way 12 hours a day for 8 days with no problem.

You can buy a USB adapter for just a few $ that plugs into the battery tender cord. Then just plug in GoPro cable to that and record for as long as you like or until memory card is full.
This is the same unit I have. I have been tossing around the idea of putting some sort of USB plug up near my bars. Last time I tried to use my GPS it wasn't fully charged and lasted long enough for me to get out of town....LOL It was enough to do what I needed but less than I would have liked!
About how long do the memory cards last on a Go Pro? How easy are they to start and stop?
