About how long do the memory cards last on a Go Pro? How easy are they to start and stop?

I got mine from Kuriakyn. I believe it's called a 'Power Point'. Just replace the cig lighter insert with a USB insert and you're good to go. It's been on my bike about 5 years now with no problems. (see my previous post for a picture). I used it for a couple of years to power my Nuvi' until I hard wired the power for it.

I bought a 32gig, class 10 memory card about the same time so that would make it about 5 years old now. Still going strong. By how long do they last, is that what you mean? Or, do you mean how long do they record before they're full? That would really depend on what resolution you have the video set for. Mine is set at 960 with a wide field of view and I can record for about 8 hrs before the card fills up.

Starting/stopping them is easy. I can start/stop it with one hand. Keep in mind that mine is the Hero 2 so it doesn't have the wireless remote function.

What model Nuvi is that out of curiosity? Looks a lot like mine. I got one a few years back for a gift and it has lifetime map updates which is nice. Because of that I will replace it only after it dies....

Thanks for making me look dumb LOL
I did mean how many hours of video can they hold. I can't believe I worded it that way! In my defense I did not have my coffee yet when I was typing the previous post.

If it is easy to start/stop I'm not terribly worried if it's the Hero 2, 3 or 4. I don't necessarily have my heart set on the remote control function, just don't want to have to try and do 10 different things to start it up.

I plan on going the route Deucedog did and hard wire the camera. I would prefer to trigger it using the remote so will have to come up with a way to hard wire that also. Still don't understand why Go Pro has not come up with a way to do this.

Regarding batteries yes you can change batteries. I purchased two larger batteries and was able to run the camera for about 2 1/2 hours per battery.

If you try powering up the camera when you want it it's hard to till if it is on or off from just being able to see the back. There is a red light that flashes put not always easy to see when riding.

I also found when using the button on top of the camera, and not the remote, it's very easy to get you finger/glove in the top of the picture.

I have a GoPro 3+ Black with a 64GB card and it will shoot over 6 hours at 1080 wide view.

I carry spare batteries but on the bike, I use a battery eliminator that I got with my fork mount from HogTag Collars. The only downside is I need to double check to see if the camera is still powered up after engaging the starter to get the bike running. I have a USB power adaptor in the cigarette lighter.

So at least some of the downfalls of the GoPro is having to carry extra cards with me to swap out every day. And either carry extra batteries or mount a plug in for a USB. Also have to go through the video to cut out my still shots.
Is editing the video pretty time consuming?

I wouldn't necessarily mind having video, just not a lot of people want to watch that. LOL I have friends and family that do enjoy sharing photos but video of course has it's downfalls.

The GoPro can do still shots, 3 shot burst, time lapse photo, video, just about anything you want. That is entirely up to you and currently there is noting out there yet that has the picture quality of a Gopro in a camera the same size.

Can you set it to do 3 shot bursts and keep going? Kind of like time lapse is what I'm thinking. It would seem this would be a bit better than video in my case.

I'll have to start doing some more research on the different models of Go Pro. I didn't realize they could do so much!

So the Mobius makes you invisible to black trucks?? LOL

The quality seems fine on that. Pretty good price too.

Yes just set it to do time lapse video and it gives you a wide variety of when/how often it will take pictures. It will just keep going til you turn it off or the card gets full. I'm thinking a card would last several days in this mode.
