Default It is cold

Beautiful morning but 39 degrees when I leave for work. Any thoughts on heated gear?

Being from Canada half my yearly riding is done with heated gear. I have a Gerbings heated liner (jacket) and Gerbings heated gloves. Best cold weather investments I have made. For leg protection there are a lot of choices, heated pant liners, riding pants and rain suit pants also work to block the cold wind. I find that if I can keep my upper body and hands warm I'm fine.

I use this stuff from WarmNSafe. The same stuff is also sold under the FirstGear brand. Their remote control thermostat is great. Just one wire to plug into the bike to power jacket and gloves, and you can put the remote with the control ***** anywhere that it's handy. This is the gear that I use:

When it's 39°, wear 'em if you have 'em.

Personally, I wear enough layers, that the only thing that gets cold are my fingers and I have heated glove liners.

Get heated grips and a nice heated vest. You will be fine.

It was my hands this morning. Legs and upper body were fine but about 15 mins into the ride my right thumb got numb. Just now getting the feeling back. Grips over heated liner?

GERBINGS! - nuff said!
Get yourself a heated jacket liner, gloves and controller. As long as the roads are clear, you'll be riding all winter long.

+1 on Gerbing. I have gloves and the heated insoles. Haven't used the insoles yet though. I'd like the jacket liner next.

+1 on Gerbing, 28* on Monday and 31* Tuesday on the way in to work, only used the jacket liner and stayed very warm and the setting was not even pass half way to high.
