Had my console done last winter. Held up very well this year. I am planning on having a few other parts done this winter. The guy who I had do this does the hydro-dip then covers it with several coats of clear. It works just like paint. It has held up fine even where there is the splash from filling the fuel.
Utube is full of videos showing things done in camo, fire and all types of coverings. Seeing wheels done is pretty amazing how great they look once pulled out of the tank... My guess is the clear coat seals this and protects it just like it would a base coat.
Here's a few pics of the stuff I had done.
This is the brake pedal, key cover and thumb throttle before I put it on my Banshee.

cool Banshee man! I drag raced alcohol banshees in the early 00's man I really miss it sometimes! running 3.2's in the 300ft at 90ish mph, man it was like riding a rocket! I still catch myself looking at them on craigslist sometimes.... good times!
I was just talking to a guy about hydrographics , the cost he was quoting me was about the same as what I paid for paint and the same as the last pair of bags I had vinyl wrapped. So basically paint / hydrographics / vinyl wrap are all about the same price. I'm sure it is different in different areas and shops all charge different prices but from what I found they all seem about the same. good luck!
I'll get pics when we get them back. We're doing a Sporty and dipping both fenders and the fuel tank. I got prices ranging from $450 to over $1200. Custom bike shops are higher, guy dipping guns in a small shop lower. They all will give you a quote, just be specific on parts you want done.

Thanks Irie1 and SpaceReapersNOLA! I am reaching out to local hydrographics shops to get a quote as the quality looks very good and hopefully it will be slightly cost-effective.
