Until a heavier, 4 wheeled vehicle runs into a motorcycle. Then, how much protection do you have? I`m still for freedom to choose; it`s your life. But, the comment about statistics involving motorcycles is purely one sided and erroneous.

My son is a Flight Medic. One day he picked up a guy who crashed at about 30 mph, on his Harley. No helmet. His brains were oozing out his ears. He didn't die, but I am sure his rehab will be lot more expensive because he didn't wear his helmet.
I had patient on Medicaid hit a deer with no helmet. Needed $250k of reconstructive eye orbit surgery. She was on Medicaid, so your taxes paid for it.
So I don't give a **** if you don't wear a helmet. but don't kid yourself. Your injuries will be worse without it, and unless you are a millionaire, your insurance or the state will have to cover the cost. So just be a man and admit it. When you sober up.

I got side swiped about a year ago, and my head hit the pavement. However, I was wearing a FF helmet which protected my face as well. The only injuries I got was a cracked rib and some road rash. I don`t even want to guess what the outcome would have been if I had not worn a helmet.
