I have them and am happy with them. I don't have any issue with them being a PITA or anything. I also realize that they are just a method that makes the T/P harder to get off the bike. I keep telling myself that I am going to get the Brukus hardware, but haven't gotten around to it.
Thanks to all for the input. Very helpful!
I agree with the general sentiment of the opinions expressed. This thread reminded me that I have been so preoccupied admiring my new TP that I haven't tried to take it off yet. A buddy of mine also said its a PIA to take it off.
Although I haven't had one in my hand, the HD locks don't look very substantial and I reluctantly was considering some sort of cable system as suggested.
I wasn't aware of the Brukus Bullet, but after seeing a youtube and checking out the website those look like a good route to try. Made in America, Stainless Steel, simple design (by a US Navy Vet) and at 1/3 the price of the HD product.
.... again, to keep the honest people honest.
I bought them and went on my way. I had already paid the guy in cash when he showed me the stuff in the garage. I have no proof that they were stolen, only a suspicion. For all I know he buys and resells the stuff. Probably not but its not my business, and I don't make it a habit to go around sticking my nose in other folks business
Read my reply above. I had no proof, just suspicion. Just like I suspect that anyone with 73000 posts on an internet forum has nothing better to do than sit in front of the laptop all day and shoot their mouth off to people they know nothing about.
You can take it for what it's worth. You put the facts out there for interpretation and don't like the outcome? Sucks to be called out? Everything I needed to know about you I just learned from your flapping lips :>)
I had an aftermarket locking set for the detachable TP on my SG. Used it every time the TP was on the bike. Gave me peace of mind. Others may be different, but my TP was easy to get off. Push the two tabs, lift up and back, and away you go. I still have that set. I attached a few pictures. PM me if you are interested - $15 shipped to you.

I have the brukus bullet on mine and it's pretty secure. When traveling and I have to leave the bike outside overnight I take a small zip tie and zip it around the pin on the side opposite the brukus lock. It would take a thief a while to defeat that in the dark. It's a quick secure for anyone without some kind of lock.
Mine comes off pretty easy after unhooking the light and speaker disconnects. Kind of big and awkward but not hard to take off.
