Default Hand grips

any thoughts on smooth hand grips versus contoured or other?
I have smooth grips on my Street Glide Special, and will be installing heated hand grips. I've been satisfied with the stock smooth hand grips, but wondering if contoured hand grips would be an upgrade.

The stock grips suck, unless you like them sticky or wear gloves all of th time. I replaced mine with some that are a hard rubber, almost plastic, so they won't get sticky. And they have a rise in the middle, to fit my hand better. But they're not heated...I have glove inserts for that.

If you ride with gloves it does not matter as much. I had braided Kuryakyn's on my Lo and they felt great with bare hands. I have been wearing gloves year round now though, and the chrome grips on my new bike are fine. With bare hands they probably would get changed out.

I found that for the size of my hands, the stock smooth grips weren't very good so I went with Isso's and now my grip is much better and more comfortable too.

I've used these for over 50,000 miles. I like them a lot. They sell them in a heated version too: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...09-5627596b--1

I will never again own a bike that doesn't have heated grips. I have HD heated grips on the fld, and Speed Demon heated grips on the fxr. Any grips I might want have to be able to be heated.

these!!! First thing I change when I get a new bike. Factory smooth grips just don't cut it for me.

Many miles on three HD's, all with HD Heritage grips. I like the slightly barrel shape; fills the hand nicely and comfortable for miles. Changed the bars on my current ride, a Fat Bob, and at that time went with Heat Demons, Cole Foster grips and HD turn signal mirrors...all expertly internally wired. My glove size is L - XL and I never ride without a pair on.....
