Default Bought a Signature seat Demo, QUESTION??

So I am getting older and really wanted one of those nice signature seats with the back rest. I can ride all day with lumbar support. I went into the dealer today with the intention of dropping close to $600 on a new Sig seat. The dealer did not have a new one in stock.

What they had on hand was a new in box SS Demo. Price, $150.. After thinking on it, I bought it. I figure at worst, It would cost $200 +/- to get re-upholstered, still coming out much cheaper.

Another option, the "demo" words are painted on the seat. I tried a little acetone, and the letters come right up. Problem, the acetone etches the seat material... Goo-gone has no effect.

So, should I screw with trying to remove all of the "demo" stamps with chemicals, get it re-upholstered, or just ride the ***** as is?

Yeah, I know... But hey, it was only $150..

Ride it! Tell everyone "Demo" is short for the "Demolition Model"
Soon everyone will want one.

What if you applied the acetone over the entire seat so it was "etched" evenly?

This IS an option. I'm just afraid the acetone is eating far enough into the vinyl that it will end up cracking in a short time. The acetone actually gives the seat a well weathered 15+ year old patina where I use it.

Anything not quite as harsh that will take the paint, but not as much seat???

I get it, the paint and vinyl look the same to the chemical being applied. Anything not as harsh?

Thanks for the ideas so far!

Try some Denatured Alcohol. It's not as harsh. I would lay a soaked swab or towel on one of the demo spots and let it soak for a few minutes and see if it breaks it down.

Try mineral spirits...not nearly as harsh...may or may-not take off the paint.

Buy some material at a fabric/craft store and reupholster it yourself. Check out Youtube for instructions. I never did one myself but I have been thinking about it with an old Road King seat I have. From the Youtube videos I have seen it looks pretty simple and you could do it yourself for about $50 bucks worth of material.

Leather Dye wasn't mentioned.

1) Best.... try different remover products, Acetone, Minerial Spirits, etc. The words Demo are some type of paint, yes?
2) Sheep Skin Cover or like.
3) Dye it.
4) Re-upholstery.

You will have success.

I don't see how you can get the "demo" markings off without damaging the seat covering.
Sure you might be able to get the words off, but what's worst; the words or a scarred seat? IMO neither works for me.

I'd need to have it re-upholstered.
I couldn't live with all the "demo" markings.

Even with the re-upholstered cost you still should be under the "new" cost.

BTW- I picked up my Signature Series Seat used and I like the seat a lot as does the Wife.
