As a general rule of thumb on ALL motorcycles, not just HDs, what is a ballpark mileage for tire life? I realise difernt tires have diferent compounds but just a general idea for a touring or cruising style bike, WITHOUT burn outs of course
20,000 for the front and 10,000 for the back. There are variables like road conditions, load on the bike, and how well you maintain tire pressure. I have owned bikes from the metric families, a Dyna and now the RKC and that has been my experience. I have used Dunlop, Continental,Bridgestone and Avon. I like the ride of Avon the best but find all of them about equal....just my 2 cents worth![8D]
NO WAY.............I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN MORE THAN 8000 MILES OUT OF A REAR TIRE. as a matter of fact the dealer told me the average life of a rear tire is about 6500 miles and 10-12000 out of the front. now i can honestly say that i never had a bike with more than 12000 miles on it cause i keep upgrading bikes. my SEEG has about 8000 miles on it now. i am sure im gonna be keeping this bike for a long time(im out of money..LOL) i had to replace the rear tire because of a blow out and the front looks good still. but i never gor 10k out of a rear tire
by the way....the dealer also told me that the police bikes down here in so fla, have different tires than the stock factory tires and they get a gauranteed 15000 miles on a back tire from whoever the manufacturer is. HD should offer this tire to the public as well.
I have almost 9,000 miles on my bike now and the back tire will go at least another 1,000. The front doesn't look wore at all.
This is about my experience with Dunlops. 10,000 rear, 20,000 front. Can't speak for other manufacturers.
This about the same as the wife is getting on her Heritage except once when I got a Dunlop D404 instead of the 402. the 404 is made in Japan, and is a lot cheaper than the 402. It only lasted 5,000 miles on the rear. I won't do that again..

That's why we call them the Stealer Ship![sm=exactly.gif]
I got 25000 out of my metzler me 880 front average 8000 with the me880 on the back tried a dunlop back this time arrowmax gt 501 about 5000on it and I'm down to the wear marks already , back to the me880
I got 21000 on stock dunlops on my Wideglide and 9000 on the rear....I'm sure enviornmental and load conditions all play a factor as well as the manufacture...
