Not legal here in Colorado but I'm sure if it where me in the same position as you, it would have gotten my attention too...

How much faster than you do you think they were traveling? 5-10mph faster than traffic is a typical safe lane splitting speed here. Above that can be unsafe yes. I don't like to pass another motorcyclist without him knowing I'm going to do it. But some are just oblivious, or don't have mirrors with good coverage. I'm not going to sit there all day, I'm going to find a safe way around them. Splitting is legal here though.

Because Florida doesn't allow the statistically safer lane splitting/filtering/sharing?

Trying to make lane splitting and lane filtering legal here in Washington. Two bills haven't made it out of committee because of an idiot chairwoman.

Can't wait for it. Once it's legal either do it or don't do it's your choice.

Kind of like choosing to ride a motorcycle or drive a cage. Choice. Try not to get your panties in a wad over other people's choices.

Even if I was in Cali I probably wouldn't lane split. I'm not looking to make things even more dangerous.

There is currently a bill that would allow splitting at a higher speed (50 mph flow of traffic?) Which I am totally against. I have witnessed bikes doing 78 or 80 splitting on busy freeways in the rain -- asking for trouble.

I think lane splitting should be allowed at the lower speeds and I do it when necessary on a full bagger.
Maybe I'm just dense butI simply don't understand this statement. Everything is legal unless there is a law prohibiting it.

More than likely, 1/2 as many. 2 against 1 and all.

It's not more dangerous. Only if you make it so. I can go mountain biking take it slow and be safe, or I can take risks and make it dangerous for myself. Same thing.

Splitting actually allows you more safety if done correctly, because it removes the chance of being rear-ended.
