Correct. When I got home last night to return the ft lbwrench thathad theproblem I checked the in lb one too to see if the numbers were rubbing off that one too. Yep! SoI took them both back last night expecting a fight from Sears sinceI bought them 9 months ago. Sure enough they started telling me that they were out of the 90 day return window and I'dhave to be taken to the repair center.I took out the instructionsthat come with them and showed them in their instructionsthat says they can't be serviced. So theSears guy just gave up and said he'd replace them. But on the ft lb wrench I decided togo to the digital model for a few bucks more.

I own three Craftsman 'click type' torque wrenches...None have the black paint to highlite the numbers.

And I think the warranty is one year on torque wrenches...Have your reciept if you're thinking about an exchange.
Yeah, it's not black numbers it's the white numbers on the handle that have worn off a bit.

Cheers!

I forgot about the lifetime warrenty and it was pissing me off that the paint was wearing off. Here's mine. I'll be replacing mine as well.

Yep, that's what mine looked like but it happened the first time I went to use them. [:@]Be prepared to fight a little to get them exchanged. The torque wrenches don't have the lifetime warranty like the other hand tools. They have a 90 day replacement and 1 year warranty for "service". But if you read the instructions they say they can't be serviced. When the guy at Sears started giving me the brush off with"their outside the 90 day return window" and wanted me to take them to a service center, I toldhim the instructionssay they can't be serviced. At that point he exchanged them for me.

Good info Petemac, thanks. I'm outside that 90 day window, but still inside the 1 year I think...I'll be prepared to argue.

Thanks for the advise on this. I just bought one on sale two weeks ago. I will have to watch for those numbers wearing off. No problem so far.
