Default Craftsman torque wrenches

Anybody ever have the black on the numbers on your torque wrenches come off? On one of my torque wrenches that I've used twice, the place where the back numbers arecomes off when you touch it! I noticed it smudge and then when I rubbed the black paint it all came off and you could't read the numbers. I couldn't believe it. The other torque wrench is fine. I'm going to Sears tonight to swap it for another. Pretty wierd.......

Mine has the behind glass scale so that's not a problem. I got it for 70 something bucks on sale at Sears.

Mine doesn't have that. Maybe when I go to swap it out, I'll see if they have that model.

Take it back. If it is the old style, I have one too and it is fine but Sears should take it back and replace it.

They said they would. If there's a newer/better model out I'll switch to this and pay the difference if need be.

Actually, now that you mention it, one of mine has done that. I forgot about the lifetime warrantee. It'll be going back for replacement this weekend.

Cheers!

I don't believe their torque wrenches carry the lifetime warranty. That only applies to the sockets, wrenches, ratchets...etc. Excludes torque wrenches and multimeters.....[sm=signs003.gif]

I don't have any of their torque wrenches....but have heard of that problem before with others that do own Craftsman Torque Wrenches.

I own three Craftsman 'click type' torque wrenches...None have the black paint to highlite the numbers.

And I think the warranty is one year on torque wrenches...Have your reciept if you're thinking about an exchange.

Thats correct on the warranty issue, One more tidbit for you though and that is Snap-On makes the digital torque wrenchs for Craftsman. Its the only one and the only difference is in the handle. Our local snap on tool guy that were friends with told us that one. So save yourself a few hundredbucks.

Yeah, it's not black numbers it's the white numbers on the handle that have worn off a bit.

Cheers!
