Default Changing injectors from 8* to 25*...do I need a new dyno tune?

I'm going to swap my injectors from the 8* ones to 25* at my 10k mile service. When I did my stage 1 and dyno tune last year I didn't know about the injector upgrade. My question is, when I switch to the 25* injector will I need to do another dyno tune?

petemac, do you have some sort of fuel management system on your bike (PC111, SERT, fuel pack)? If you don't, you will need a new HD cartridge from the dealer for the 25 injectors.

85FXWG, yes I have a SERT. I'm thinking I need to bring this in and get a new map.

Yep, they will need to remap the SERT....Do they have a Dyno? Is the injector swap on a recall, or are you just wanting to change them? If it is a recall they will need to do the remap and dyno for free.

I believe the injector is a recall item. I know a lot of guys here have had it done under warranty and I'm planning on this too. Yes, the dealer has a dyno and didthe map and dyno for me last time. I have the SERT boxin the garage andI'm hoping when I call them they'll agree to do a new map and dyno at no charge. I wish they had checked the injectors then and told me I needed to swap them out before the new map.

????

Why would you have to redo a dyno with a change in injectors?

The stock ones where 8 degree spray patter, the 25 is obviously a 25 degree spray pattern - which helps with better ignition and less sputtering on take off.

I find it hard to believe this would call for a remap and dyno.

JMO.

And yea, those were a service bulletin and you sould not have to pay a dime to have them changed.

That's my question. I don't know enough about how the injectors work to know. Since the injectors are part of the fuel system I was thinking it could affect the fuel/air ratio in the map.
Maybe not.......

More fuel with the 25's.......= running rich
If the part numbers on the fuel injectors are rubbed off or otherwiseunreadable, count the number of orifices or holes inthe injector nozzle. The 8° angle cone spray fuel injector hasjust three holes, while the 25° has six. See NOZZLE END inFigure 1.4. Update the ECM calibration. For those motorcyclesequipped with P&A Screamin’ Eagle 1450cc or 1550ccPerformance Kits, refer to h-dnet.com for the correct calibration

If you trust your dealer's service department, let them instruct you on what you'll need to have done. Just don't let them sell you something you Don't need.

Why did you wait so long to have this done?

When I heard about the SB for the injectors it was after I did my Stage 1 and I was under the impression that the fix was only requiredif the bike washardto start when cold and ran rough.Neitherseemed to apply to my bike. But last week I hadan indy shopchange my front brake pads and"unstick" a caliper piston and on the test ride he saidhe thoughtit ran rough after startup and some times during the ride and suggested I change to the 25* injectors. This is themy first Harley and the only one I've ridden(other than anUltra for a week) and he has more experience with this than I do. I always assume every noise andvibration is normal on a Harley.....
