The guy told me he had a deluxe and traded it in for the LO, but soon after he lost interest. I thought to myself, who does that.
Believe it or not, to quite a few people these bikes are just "Toys"!
They might be interested in it one day, and then it sits more often than not.
Nothing at all wrong with the bike, but it is just a toy.
And when you get a whole garage full of toys, some end up sitting more than others.
Yes it happens all the time.
And there is nothing wrong with that.
It is their bike, their money, their lifestyle.

Not everyone is broke.

I bought my Street Glide Special for my wife the day after forgetting her birthday. She didn't like the seat on my RKC, so I traded motorcycles for her. That is how much I love my wife. It is also how low mileage, like new bikes end up back at the dealer, but luckily my wife has a sense of humor and I'm stubborn as hell.
why not just replace the seat?

My wife passed her M/C test last year and wanted a Deluxe as her first bike.... Hunted Craigslist and found her a 2009 Deluxe with lots of extras and only 3900 miles for $10,000, needless to say we grabbed it with both hands. Its got a few more miles on it now

At first I thought this story might be about a man named Jed. But, no.
Never buy a bike or gun for your wife/girlfriend. You might help with the decision process but it needs to be her decision or it will be your fault when it doesn't work out.
My bike isn't going to have a million miles on it anytime in the near future. I'm unemployed right now, but the weather is ****, so I can't really get much riding in. When I do get a job, I'll have that, a child, and a wife that works way too much. Our weekends are family time, since that's the only time my wife has free time.
I fit in any riding time I can, but I've had my new bike for a week, and only have 200 miles on it. It's not a toy to me, but I have to deal with my priorities. Will I sell it with 2500 miles on it? Probably not. It depends on our financial situation. It definitely won't be the first thing I sell off (Buell XB12STT goes first). Everyone has their reasons to sell. I'm sure a lot of folks lose interest, but life gets in the way for some people. As time goes on, and my wife gets away from her 16 hour days, I will be able to get in more miles, but until then...
