I need some serious help...
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I had a similar experience a month or so ago. It all started with a slow start, so I threw the tender on it, and it started fine. The next day I rode off to the dealer to discuss and make an appointment for an inspection, and it was dead when I went to leave. Got a jump, and everything was fine until about 5 miles from my house when the bike started hesitating, farting, the speedo would go back and forth from zero to actual speed, then it **** the bed. I pushed it to the top of the next exit ramp on the LIE, then push started it on the way down, and it started, but was running like a raped ape full throttle no matter where I positioned the throttle...
Luckily for me the light changed and I shot through the intersection on the service road, until I got to the next light, when it conked out again. Pushed it up another hill, rested, then jump started it again, I ran through the red light (pissed a couple cagers off I'm sure, LOL), then it **** the bed again, but I was on level ground and I couldn't push start it anymore because the rear wheel just dragged on the sand alongside the road.
Got it home finally from that point in 100 foot iterations.
The next day I went to the dealer again and picked up a battery, $114. Installed it, and haven't had a single problem since. Vrooooom vrooooom!
It was the original battery and the bike is an '09, so 7 years wasn't too bad a run.
