common problem ! i'm surpised they lasted that long. before you install the new ones pop the seals off and pack the damn things with some grease. i think all the Chinese use in them is wok juice.
Chinese? Wheels on my 14 were made in Australia and the Bearings are F.A.G., a German company. Folks have Way too many problems with the bearings though. I have had a couple sets of wheels on and off my Road King, I swap out the bearings at home and have not had a problem with mine [ knock on wood ] pushing 30k on the bike. FYI, the wheels I bought out of the P&A are also made in Australia and are top quality.

That's interesting because the moco publicly announced moving it's cast wheel production from australia to china in 2011, new old stock maybe ?

Must be NOS, my bike came with spokes and the cast wheels out of the HD P&A have no date codes on the wheels that I know of, I can see how both could be older wheels.
Would be interesting to see how nice the bearings go into the China wheels, I can say the bearings go in my wheels smoothly.

Would be, I've a couple aftermarket wheels out in the shed the owners just gave up on because of failure issues and not being able to remove the bearings can't see the china wheels doing much better.
