Everybody seems to want their Harley to sound like an old farm tractor at idle.


Give it up. No matter what you do, that Harley is never going to sound as cool as an old two-cylinder John Deere.

The California EVO's circa 1990-1991 had a California Cam. They had no power and idled like a smooth V12 engine.

Not looking to get the idle down to 600. But 800 to 900 would suit me a lot better than 1,100.

This was one of the reasons I sold my efi bike and bought an older carbed bike. On the other hand though, I have heard some nice idling "cammed" efi bikes. If I went back to efi I would definitely put a
Better cam in it.

Read somewhere on here is was all about the 103" motors and the alternator providing the juice to run it.

Not sure this is anything new. By the book, my 94 carbureted Evo is supposed to idle @1,000 RPM.

A -100 will put you there; my Wide Glide when the idle is dropped -100 with the Power Vision idles 840 - 940 RPM with no drop in oil pressure...
