I've been working nights forever, I don't have a normal sleep pattern at all. I work 7pm-7am Fri-Sun. Once I get home, unless it's raining or I gotta get a load of stuff, I'm on one of the bikes. It's been almost 100 here in the daytime, plus a few million tourists everywhere, but gets nice at night, so being up most of the night, I ride. I avoid the country roads with all the deer out here in the dark, but I cruise the beach and the boulevard. You would be surprised at all the weirdos roaming around at 3-4am. I put about 90 miles on the Valkyrie last night and rode Her around doing errands all day. In about a half an hour I'm gonna jump on the FatBoy and go on my night cruise, see what kind of weirdos are roaming the boulevard. Work starts again tomorrow night.
Any other nocturnal creatures out there????
worked nights for the last 18 or so years, can't get off it and can't afford to quit. I pretty much hate it.
riding before I go in is stiffled by knowing I can't get lost or into a ride because I have to make sure I get to work on time. riding after I feel like one of the weirdos riding around at night, so I pretty much ride straight home if I rode to work. I know I'd put a lot more miles on if I could switch shifts. the one or two times a year I work days and ride in, I just feel freer to wander and a ride straight home never happens.
A few nights I work late (well past dark) I do like being able to see better during the day, But I usually ride most of my late nights. Helps me unwind better w/o all of the traffic.

I wonder how many of those weirdos, are surprised about the weirdo out riding his MC at that hour?? Sorry man, I couldn't resist .
I don't do regular hours either and occasionally on my days off I feel like a "Daywalker".
I do like night rides though, cooler air, less traffic, less stop signs and oddly enough more green lights.

I rotate shifts at my job, every two weeks I switch shifts. It sucks.
That rotating shifts BS is the absolute worst. You can never establish a regular sleep pattern. I did that years ago, and in the winter I would wake up at 4:30 or 5:00, it would be dark out, and my sleep patterns would be so screwed up I wouldn't know if it was in the morning or evening.
