I just got a detachable windshield for my 2001 RK but the plastic is too tall and not in very good shape. I need to replace the clear plastic so do I go to the HD dealer or look elsewhere?
+1 for the LRS! I think it was $70.00 with free shipping. Keep an eye out for them and other recurve makers/ sellers. They run special sales and discounts every now and then.
The recurve does a great job getting the wind up and over you. I'm running a 17" with light tint on my Road King.
I replaced mine yesterday with a Memphis Shade. See my video below if you want to do it yourself. It's easy. I used the double sided tape but after doing it, I don't think it is necessary to use it. I went to a taller size due to my 6' 4"'s but they have shorter ones. The quality is better than OEM IMO. Thicker. I paid $111 with free shipping from J & P Cycles. Shorter one may be a little less.
I just ordered a Memphis Shade 17" on EBay ( I am 5'10"). I think I will not use the HD tape especially for 20.00. I think its only to keep the metal parts from scratching the windshield while assembly. I was glad to hear the comments of the quality of their windshield.
