Default Do you adjust your suspension while carrying passenger and luggage?

Hi all,

I am planning on a road trip 2.5 weeks long through western US.

Question is: Do you adjust your suspension for the extra load? I have a 2014 road king. Saddlebags will be full. We have a bag that goes on the luggage rack and it will be full as well. Wife weighs 130 lbs. I am 200lbs.

looking for opinions.

thanks
JD

I can't imagine why you wouldn't.

Mine usually stays at max pressure since I am about 300 pounds. I would increase pressure anytime I might haul extra if I were smaller.

Yes, it's kind of a big deal,,, rear suspension affects handling, curves and cornering.

Yes. I have the infamous air shocks on my '14 Ultra Ltd. and I'll add or remove air as needed (though I may leave 2-up pressure if I'm riding a short distance solo).

No. My wife weighs about 100lbs and I never carry luggage, except in my car.

Just never done it before as I have never had to carry any luggage.

I dont have the bike in front of me so pardon me if this is a silly question. Can a 2014 RK be adjusted with the adjustment **** or do I have to use air suspension pump and gauge tool (which I dont have)?

Whatever you do, don't let your wife know you are adjusting for a heavy load. If you do, you will soon find the adjustment was not necessary because you will be traveling alone.

In the manual they say to adjust the suspension for body weight over 150 and weight of cargo. I am usually around 155, so I don't need to adjust it, but I would if I carried cargo in saddlebags/ luggage rack.
