Black paint is great....owned too many black vehicle, yet will continue to do so.
Black paint could be considered a hooby...it takes care and proper cleaning items.
For the OP, if you are that "hated" about swirls, marks, fingerprints, dust etc..black may not be for you. Tray a silver or white (and others) as those colors tend to hide imperfections.
You can only see the swirls when it's parked. At 75 mph no one cares. If it's a show and no go. Pick another color. I thought about getting band aids put over all the dings and nicks. But I really could care less. It gets washed every couple months. The rest of the time it gets wiped down with Bug Slide, filled with gas and ridden. I bought it to ride. I ran across a guy who had an 01 Heritage. 3200 miles on it. I told him I have bugs that have ridden more miles than that on my bike. Yeah, mine is black. When riding you can only see a small portion of the tank and inside the fairing.
Let me think:
2005 Road King Custom Vivid Black
2007 Ultra Vivid Black
2007 VTX 1800 Tour Black
2011 Heritage Classic Vivid Black
2011 Road King Vivid Black
I may qualify as an expert, but this is my opinion.
Black bikes are not faster, but they are faster to sell because every person, or couple will agree Black looks good, let's buy it. It is easier to sell/trade then many of the two tones, purples, flake color etc.
I love black and I enjoy maintaining it.
