Since I'm not particularly mechanical, and I'm cheap, I bought a genie mini garage door remote on ebay for $12.00 and velcroed it to the sidewall of the media compartment on the fairing. Works like a champ and took about 10 minutes.
I keep mine in that compartment also. I have an older door opener with a larger remote. It sit nicely on the bottom of the compartment.

I did similar.
My Bike is an '89 FLHS with the big ugly breadbox instrument cluster.
I potted a wired momentary action button in epoxy in a form depressed in clay.
double sticky taped it to my brake reservoir, then put the wired remote in a baggy to make it somewhat waterproof and placed that inside the breadbox,

Has been working fine for 5 years (1 battery change.)

The OL bought me the HD opener contraption for my Eglide one year for Christmas. It works great, just flash the high beam and up it goes.

I don't think I would have spent the money on it otherwise though, I think it was $200. I used my remote in my pocket before that.

I use the garage mate like I said in the earlier post but that is with my sportster. On my ultra classic I took a garage remote and soldered wires inside on the circuit boar. Then attached them to a button that I attached to my fairing. The remote itself is inside the fairing. So all I need to do do is press the button on my fairing to open and close the door

I got a unused pouch on the 3 pouch windshield bag. I'm going to order a mini opener to put in there and call it a day.

Cant remember the name of the thing I have. It replaces the front master cylinder cover. Nice unit. Pain in the *** to mount. THe bolts that came were too short and I had to wait weeks to get them from the factory. Called many times and I kept getting the, "Well, my wife left me and the company is falling apart... I will send them out today with a free t-shirt...". Never did get them. I went ot a bolt place locally and made it work. Besides that, love the piece.

It's called a hog pen garage door opener. The cheapest I've found is $103 on ebay

That's it! Nice but needs adjusted to work correctly. I had to get longer bolts and I had to add spacers between the cover and the metal base that is the opener itself. If you didnt, the cover button you push pushes down on the door button mechanism and binds it up and it does not work.
