Default garage door remote

I had read an earlier thread that talked about a garage door opener remote on your bike. Most of the methods that were used involved re-wiring and some talked of purchasing costly electronics.

Since I'm not particularly mechanical, and I'm cheap, I bought a genie mini garage door remote on ebay for $12.00 and velcroed it to the sidewall of the media compartment on the fairing. Works like a champ and took about 10 minutes.

I just keep mine in the right small pocket on my riding vest. Works fine.

I bought a garage mate. Hooks to the opener and use your phone to open the garage.

I got one of these and put it on the ring with my bike keys.

I used to do that but if I moved wrong my jacket would push the button and open/close the garage door without me wanting it to. So I attached it to the front brake master cylinder cover with super strong velcro.

I bought a fob style on ebay with 2 buttons. Works great since I have 2 garages.

Yeah that. A few years back I had one of these "mini" remotes hanging on the key ring while riding my Sporster (the key had to be in the ignition switch on that scoot). Sure enough it vibrated off somehow and it was lost.

Having lost a few other things from my bike over the years I think the best place for small stuff is in a pocket - preferably with a zipper.

Just installed one today. Got a remote for $12 off e-bay. Went to Radio Shack and got a push button switch for $3. Soldered 2 8"pieces of wire to the remote circuit board. Drilled a 1/4" hole through the top front of my right saddle bag andinstalled the switch from the outside and connected the remote to the switch and velcroed itinside the saddle bag. Now all I have todo is reach right back next to my saddle and push the button. Took all of 20 minutes and under $20.

I use a magnetic zip up waterproof HD bag about the size of a cell phone which situates perfectly on the front of the triple tree between the windshield. My garage genie is in that.
