Default Paint chip/scratch help

Had my first street bike and Harly for a little over a year. 10k miles later, I am noticing a lot more paint "blemishes" than before. Is there anything to help with this that is not some sort of bra (please forgive me if I'm using the wrong terms, thinking car bra for the front), or this the price you pay to play? If it matters, I have a 1200N without anything up front. Not looking to add either.

If it is the price to pay to play, I am ok with that. Just curious because I see a lot of nice bikes that done seem to have the same, then again I am not critiquing them like I am mine.

Clear bra (clear plastic film) is the only thin that's gonna prevent it. Expensive to have it done. Not fun to do it yourself, but doable.

Is it more expensive or about the same as powder coat? Assuming I take off the tank.

I think a person "sees" more blemishes on their own bike when cleaning it up than you do when checking out someone else bike. Once you see the paint chip, it's hard to "unsee" it. My bike sees a lot of miles and has accumulated a fair bit of road rash, but if you step back a few feet it still looks as good as new.

I was doing a good clean up after my last trip and after trying to clean up a stubborn bug stain off the fairing I noticed its a new scuff from a rock. Step back a little and found it is not noticeable. Sure I would like it to look good, but battle scars also add character. Once it starts to show too much character it will go in for new paint.

I have a simple and sometimes overlooked easy way to take care of rock chips. When I detailed my cars or my bike and I saw a rock chip, I just used a permanent magic marker of the same/similar color. After I was done, I would then stand back and look and guess what, no more visible rock chip.

I disagree with the other guy, you can buy the film on ebay, watch a couple you tube videos and do it yourself. Way way cheaper than powder coat. Trick is you need to remove it and redo every year or so in order for your paint not to fade unevenly.

Powdercoat, while very tough, is difficult to achieve a mirror finish like paint. It nearly always has some level of orangepeel.

Do it like Springer said. I've been using the magic marker thing for years when I show my drag car. You have to get really close and know where the blemishes are to notice.

Bottom line, if you're gonna ride it, it's gonna get blemishes

I try and keep them filled in with the touch up paint from Harley or they will expand but dont over fill the chip if possible practice in a out of sight spot to get the hang of it
