I have had multiple motorbikes over the years - bunch of CBR's, GSXR's, couple of Ducati's, and R6 and R1's.
You know, Sports bikes.
My 2016 FortyEight I bought 2 weeks ago is my first HD I got(and I love it). and now that it has about 150 miles, it has became somewhat in need of a wash.
My problem is that I have never washed bike with no plastic farings.
Washing those Sports bikes are easy. Essentially, your just washing plastics, and some other parts like triple tree and stuff. But mechanicals(Engine, trans and such) are never really "soaked".
So before I take my garden hose to it, I figured Id ask all you guys for any tips.
Rinse good from the bottom up then top down. No sponge, traps grit and grime. I use a micro fiber. I apply soap to cloth. No bucket. Do all paint, then chrome, then wheels. Rinse micro fiber as needed. Use air compressor to blow dry. Touch up with dry micro fiber and HD polish as needed.
Soapy water and a good sponge or micro fiber towel. Then rinse real well, then blow dry with a small leave blower. That's how I do it. Gets all the water out of the cracks and crannies.

Same method for me, then about once every couple months I get car wax and wax the paint, chrome and windshield. I use Harley black leather conditioner on the seat and bags.
Use a garden hose on wide spray. Wet bike down, starting at the top. I use two buckets, a wash and a rinse bucket. I use grit guards, and microfiber cloths.
Use a good car wash soap. On wheels I use Nevr Dull. There are tons of different waxes. For quick detailing, I use Original Bike Spirits.
I've been using SuperClean for years as a presoak. I spray it down with Superclean and then use soapy water (good car wash) and a sponge. Blow dry and then wipe it with a towel then micro fiber.
