Being you were going to buy a new helmet anyway you could have made a half hearted offer.

Make an offer for what? Used helmets he refused to take back. Why should you offer him anything when he refused the actual helmets? The seller should not have put anything into the tour pak that he didn't want to include in the sale; nice guy or not.

Exactly!
Well ain't you such a sweet guy! If you read his post he said he determined them to be new helmets. You do what you like but if I'm in the same position I'd make an effort to make it right - just my opinion. At the end of the day I gotta feel ok with myself.
I agree with the response that YOU tried to return them. HE was being a biatch and wouldn't accept them. HIS loss not yours. I wouldn't lose any sleep over this whatsoever!!!
Tell the seller that you will be happy to have the helmets "professionally cleaned" and they can be picked up at the detailer of his choice. Up to $20. His mistake, his loss, if he is whining about it now he is a cry baby.

Do you lack reading comprehension? He did make an effort to make it right by offering to return the helmets. The seller refused.
On top of that, there were numerous other extra items included. If the only the only thing extra were the helmets, I could maybe see immediately questioning if they were included or not.
