The 9-11 Museum is a must, The Intrepid Air and Space Aircraft Carrier is cool, The Rangers will be playing so id get a ticket for a game, Times Square at night and a Broadway Show is pretty must see for tourists. A Central Park stop over is worth it. If you're coming around thanksgiving the Parade might be fun or at least watching them inflate the balloons the night before.
There is every kind of restaurant you'd ever dream of so food isn't gonna be a problem. Bars have music like everywhere else, there's a concert somewhere pretty much any night.
