There are definitely some trolls in this thread, but the OP is not one of them.
The OP needs to learn that only the dickey gets to speak in third person.
So okay.......you claim to be sincere. And educated (which intimidates me). How do you explain your initial query indicating that you do not understand counter-steering, vs the subsequent know it all-isms?
To me when a new member (with a handle more at home on the Yamaha forums) comes here and starts a hot button thread (counter steering, oil, gas cap placement) asking a question, followed by a series of "this is how it's really done" replies to those who offer advice, it's pretty clear it's a troll.

I could explain everything but I am not going to, for the simple reason that this thread has attracted a bunch of trolls who are not interested in the discussion, and quite frankly, are not worth my time. There is some really good information in this thread, that is why it got so many hits.
Here is a link to every post I have made in this thread and on this forum.

The reason it has so many hits is because it's a counter steering thread.
Motorcyclists love to show how much they know, and nothing brings that out more than this topic. Which, btw, has been beaten to death on this forum as well as others.

No, the reason it got so many hits is because it has good information in it. But the bigger question is why do you even care how many hits it got. All of your troll friends added to the number of hits. They are the ones to whom you should be directing questions.
Here is a screen capture of the forum. I have ordered the topics by the number of view in descending order( I bet some of your troll friends did not even know it could be done). I do not see any counter-steering topics.
However, not to far below the last one in the image is this thread with >5000 views.
I don't care how many hits it has. You're the one that brought that up as an indicator of the value your thread brings to the forum. My point is, it's been beat to death. It's become cliche. So much so that "counter-steering" is commonly used as a humorous response to something irrelevant or over-used.
But hey - have at it.
For your next amazing and original thread may I suggest "What bike should I buy?", "What oil is best"?, or my personal favorite - "What is a biker?"

You brought up the number of hits, SEVERAL TIMES. I never did because I could care less how many hits it got. Frankly I get tired of responding to the attacks.
It you think its been over done, I may even agree with you on that, then I suggest you look in the mirror and accept the fact that you are one of the reasons that it has become cliche. There is some really good stuff in this thread but it is covered up with troll crap.
This thread reminds me of talking with my ex during the divorce. I thought it was a good question, but once again I was wrong. Live long and countersteer, push, press, shove, lean, fart, I don't care as long as you make it around the corner and miss the fire truck.
It is a good question. And the answer is a simple one. The 1st response the OP got summed it up nicely. And the 2nd. And the 3rd...and so on. But then the road captains have to dissect the subject into minutia and it becomes a battle not unlike Star Trek nerds discussing the origins of Dylithium crystals. These threads always turn into pissing matches, and as such, makes some of us suspicious when a newb, especially one with a handle like the Op's, shows up and asks it.
Not that it does any harm. It makes for some good entertainment. But it doesn't mean I'm not going to try and vet the Op to see what his real endgame is. And if he get's easily butt hurt....oh well. But if he can take it with a good sense of humor, we know the guy is probably for real and will be a valued member of this forum.
It's all part of the fun.
Now I'll leave you boys to it. I have to go out and practice lawn mowing.
